Companionship for Older Adults | In-Home Companion Care in Berkshire
Warm, reliable companionship for older adults in their own homes. Dementia-friendly activities, movement, outings, and genuine connection.
What Is Active Companionship for Older Adults?
It’s more than just being present. It’s meaningful engagement—sharing activities, conversation, and experiences that bring joy and stimulation to daily life.
Unlike traditional care, which focuses on personal or medical support, companionship is about connection. It’s for older adults who are largely independent but would benefit from regular social interaction, encouragement to stay active, and someone to share hobbies and outings with.
As we get older, life grows quieter. Family lives further away. Work makes regular visits difficult. Or maybe they’d simply enjoy someone friendly to talk to, go out with, and share their day.
That’s where I come in.
Sometimes They Don’t Need a Carer. They Need a Companion.
I provide one-to-one companionship for older adults that helps your loved one stay socially connected, mentally stimulated, creative, and physically engaged.
We don’t just sit beside them.
We do things together.
Why Families Choose Me for In-Home Companion Care
With over 15 years of experience in exercise, movement, and wellbeing—plus hands-on work as an Activities Organiser at Pinehurst Care Home in Crowthorne—I bring a combination of skills that’s well-suited to this role.
My care-home work means I spend time regularly with older residents, including those living with dementia and learning difficulties. I create activities, encourage participation, organise outings, and aim to support people’s mental, physical, and social engagement. I bring that same energy and experience into your loved one’s home.
What that means for your family:
- Practical experience adapting communication and activities for different abilities and cognitive levels
- A focus on dignity, patience, reassurance, and respect
- Enhanced DBS checked (2026), professional insurance held, and references on request
- Genuine enjoyment of spending time with older people
My professional background is also on my LinkedIn profile, and I’m happy to share my CV or portfolio.
Things We Can Enjoy Together
Every visit is tailored around your loved one’s personality, interests, and abilities.
| Gardening | Planting, watering, potting, or simply enjoying the garden together |
| Knitting & Stitching | Sharing a favourite craft or working on a project together |
| Art & Creativity | Drawing, painting, colouring, crafts, and making decorations |
| Chess & Board Games | Chess, cards, dominoes, draughts, and other favourites |
| Crosswords & Puzzles | Word games, Sudoku, jigsaws, quizzes, and memory activities |
| Music & Memories | Listening to favourite songs, singing, and sharing memories |
| Conversation | Sometimes a cup of tea and a really good chat is all that’s needed |
| Walks & Outings | Gentle walks, café visits, garden centres, or local trips |
And if noughts and crosses is their favourite—I’m always ready for a game.
Movement, Confidence & Rehabilitation
My background includes personal training, Pilates, mobility, and rehabilitation. That means movement can become a natural, enjoyable part of companionship—not a chore.
Depending on ability, a visit might include gentle mobility, stretching, balance work, walking, or strength-building exercises.
Regarding prescribed exercises: I can support clients with exercises prescribed by their physiotherapist or healthcare professional, provided they’re clearly documented and within my training and competence. I do not independently prescribe or alter rehabilitation programmes.
Movement, confidence, and companionship can go hand in hand.
Supporting Independence—Not Taking It Away
My philosophy is simple: do with them, not just for them.
If your loved one can participate, I encourage them to. We garden together. We prepare food together. We choose activities together. We exercise together. We play games together.
Independence isn’t about doing everything alone.
It’s about having the right support to keep doing what you can.
For Families Who Can’t Always Be There
Perhaps you live further away. Perhaps you work long hours. Perhaps you’re going on holiday. Perhaps your parent is independent but you’d feel reassured knowing someone experienced and friendly was visiting them.
I provide an additional layer of companionship, stimulation, and peace of mind.
You can’t always be there. I can.
Who Can Benefit From Senior Companion Services?
My elderly companion care at home is especially suited to someone who:
- Lives alone or feels socially isolated
- Is largely independent but would enjoy regular company
- Wants encouragement to stay active
- Enjoys hobbies, creativity, gardening, games, or puzzles
- Would enjoy outings and getting out of the house
- Has mild or partial dementia and would benefit from one-to-one engagement
- Has family who can’t always visit

You’re not just paying for an hour of someone’s time.
You’re investing in more conversation, more connection, more creativity, more movement, more stimulation, and more enjoyment.
